New Study Course on “Special Needs Dentistry” Introduced under the HEAL Project

On September 19–21, 2025, at the initiative of the Georgian Dental Association’s (GSA) Shida Kartli Regional Organization, continuing medical education courses were held in the town of Boshuri, at the “Solo Grand” Hotel. Within the event, HEAL project researcher and representative of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Zurab Alkhanishvili, introduced participants to the new study course developed under the project: “Special Needs Dentistry: Patient-Centered Approach and Clinical Protocols.”

The course aims to equip future dentists with the necessary skills to treat patients with special needs—a challenge that remains one of the most pressing in the field. During the presentation, it was emphasized that after the successful completion of its pilot phase, the accredited study course in Special Needs Dentistry will soon be available to all interested dentists.
