On May 29–31, 2026, in Tbilisi, as part of the “Dental Innovations Forum 2026,” a training session titled “Management of Dental Diseases and Complications in Oncology Patients” was held. The training was led by Professor Sopio Samkharadze, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at European University, and Marika Zurmukhtashvili, Associate Professor at European University.
As part of the training, participants discussed the importance of dental assessment before chemotherapy and radiotherapy, strategies for the prevention and management of oral complications that may develop during treatment, and the principles of long-term patient monitoring. The training also covered evidence-based and contemporary clinical recommendations for the dental management of oncology patients, as well as various clinical case studies and other relevant clinical scenarios.
The training course was developed within the framework of the HEAL Project and was based on the existing practices of the project’s European partner countries.
47 dentists from across the country attended the training course.
